NZ trip

We had a fabulous week in NZ with Mum and Dad recently, staying in Tutukaka where their yacht is berthed in the marina there. We got to see what life is like as a yachtie ... very laidback and relaxed. I could definitely get used to it .... that is if I didn't have an extremely busy toddler in tow, with another one on the way......

Here are a selection of pictures. I won't bore you with all the details of what we did every day because it would take far too long, but some highlights were: driving up to the Bay of Islands for the day, going to Snapper Rock restaurant to celebrate my birthday, taking a day trip out to the Poor Knights Islands minus Liam (thanks Grandma and Grandad!) which included some snorkelling and kayaking followed by a very scrummy lunch, visiting Erin and Ivan at Whangarei Basin, and of course spending quality time with Mum and Dad.

I've not spent a lot of time in the northern regions of New Zealand and I was really impressed with how untouched and beautiful it is. Everywhere you look there are native forests and birdlife. The ocean is sparkling and crystal clear too. It's a bit of a hidden secret I think. Very eco-friendly. Everywhere you look you get panoramic views of the rugged coastline. Very nice and would highly recommend it for your next holiday.

Grandma Ann's Visit

We had Grandma Ann staying for a week. We had lots of fun doing things like colouring in, eating watermelon, and shopping (something for everyone!).

I had my first obstetrician appointment last week and all is good. Baby Knight's heart was beating at 147bpm which is apparently good. I have booked in for the 20 week scan on 25th March, at which time we will find out if it's a blue one or a pink one. Very exciting!

We're getting ready for our trip over the Tasman to see Mum and Dad next week. We are really looking forward to being Tute locals for a week.

Of more immediate excitement though is Brisbane's wet weekend. For the first time in ... years ... , for an hour between 4pm and 5pm today we get unlimited use of our water supply. The options are endless!!! So Zane and I have been dreaming up lots of exciting things to do for that precious hour. In reality, the cars will probably get a wash, and maybe the windows will get a squirt - boring to some but exciting when you're never allowed to do it.

We have had a good weekend so far. Last night we went to my friend Kylie's 30th at Oxford 152 in Bulimba. It was great to catch up with lots of people that I haven't seen for ages. And I saw my friend Rachel who is turning 40 next week, on the same day that I turn 32. As I will be in NZ I won't be able to celebrate with her, which is a bit sad. I'm sure she will have a drink for me though at her psychedelic 60's themed party which apparently has 80 people attending ... should be a wild night!

Then today I went to my lovely friend Deb's baby shower. It was at Newstead Park and luckily we had good weather. Lots of yummy food was consumed and everyone enjoyed sharing their pearls of wisdom with the mum to be.
I thought I would put in a picture of my beloved Honda HRV which sadly had to go when we got the new car. Isn't she beautiful!

Sophie very kindly loaned her rocking horse to Liam and he absolutely loves it.
