Summer Holiday

We just got back from a week of fun and sun up on the Sunshine Coast.

Liam was in heaven because he got to go for a swim every day. He is a real water baby and literally squeals with delight the whole time he is in the pool. He had a few intensive training sessions with Daddy over the week to recap on what he learned at swim school last year, and I am pleased to report that he got a gold star for climbing in and out of the pool unassisted, holding on to the edge for a while with no support, and going underwater for a few seconds. He is very confident in the water and you need to watch him like a hawk as he is not quite aware of his limitations at this tender age!

We had a visit from the Masons on Australia Day, who had been up to Noosa for lunch with friends. They popped in for a swim on their way home and ended up staying for a good old Aussie BBQ dinner. It was great fun. The picture is not the best quality ... a great photographer I ain't!

It was Zane's mate Jason's birthday on Sunday and they live at Kawana which is not far from where we were staying at Twin Waters, so we all met up at La Balsa Park for a nice breakfast of bacon and egg burgers and juice and coffee.

Juanita and Jason have just had their second baby, a girl called Monique. She is about six weeks old and is a gorgeous little princess.

Liam had fun catching up with his mate Alex, who he doesn't get to see very often.

That night we all went to Buderim Tavern for dinner. The breaky crowd were there, and also some other friends of Jasons, Gary and Kim, (Gary went to the same school as Zane and Jason), and their twins. The twins were born when Kim was only 27 weeks pregnant and it was touch and go at first, but you wouldn't know that now as they are just like normal toddlers, full of life and looking very healthy. The kids had a great time in the little playground which was conveniently located right next to the allocated smoking area (??). Juanita turned up a bit late after giving her parents babysitting instructions, looking far more fabulous than she should be for a mum of a 2yo and a 6 week old!!!

Liam had a great time playing with all the kids and was a good boy, considering he is very much a "routine" boy and isn't really used to all this partying and late night socialising. I whisked him away after dinner when he really was past his use by date and Zane stayed out with the boys and proceeded to do a pub crawl, finally dragging himself home at about 4am.

On Monday Zane went and played golf for the afternoon and came back feeling very pleased with himself because he had achieved a score of 97 ... I have no idea about golf but apparently that's good. Then on Thursday I went to a day spa!!! I had a lovely back massage, back scrub, facial, hand massage and luxury pedicure. I was walking on air after all that pampering.

Where we were staying, they have a lagoon with water sports including kayaking and catamarans. We availed ourselves of all the activities, and even found time to watch the pelican and fish feeding. The pelicans were bigger than Liam, but that didn't stop him from trying to give them a pat!

We also went up to Tewantin and Noosa for the day to visit Zane's grandma May. She's 86 and still going strong. After our visit we headed to Sunshine Beach and had fish and chips near the beach. Then we did the obligatory cruise of Hastings St and the National Park. Noosa was just like it always is, busy and fun.

So all in all, it was a great week. And now it's back to reality!

Liam is due for his 18 month chicken pox vaccination so we will be visiting the doctor this week. After 18 months of regular jabbing, he will now be able to have a rest until he is four! He has been a very brave boy.
